Frequently Asked Questions about Course Enrollment (FAQ)

Regarding class time

  • How is the class schedule arranged?

Generally, there is one class per week at a fixed time (such as Thursdays from 18:00 to 18:30).

  • If my job requires rotating shifts, is it possible to schedule classes at different times each day?

If individual students need to take turns working, they can agree with the teacher to schedule classes separately. However, after scheduling classes, students still need to abide by the rules for requesting leave.

  • Are there time limits for the four short courses?

The four short courses must be completed within four weeks.

  • If I need to take personal leave or sick leave, can the class be postponed?

If a student needs to take personal or sick leave, they must comply with our student code of conduct and discuss make-up class arrangements with their tutor. If the tutor and student reach an agreement, the class may be postponed at the tutor's discretion.

Regarding the teaching format

  • Is the class conducted individually or in small groups?

Our classes are all taught individually. For example, in a short course, a student can attend a 30-minute class, or students can form a two-person group for a 45-minute class.

  • Can you arrange two-person groups for us?

We do not offer this service. New students must form their own pairs to participate in the two-person harp lessons.

  • If classes are held in a parent-child format, does that count as forming a two-person group?

If you prefer a parent-child format for classes, you can refer to our parent-child courses.

Musical instruments

  • Do I need to bring a musical instrument to class?

Harp and Piano Lessons: We provide harp and piano for students to use in lessons; Wind Instruments: Students must bring their own instruments. We provide instruments for new students to borrow in the first one or two lessons, but students must bring their own instruments from the third lesson onwards. Students can participate in our rent-to-own program or purchase brand new instruments at a discounted price.

  • What size harp is provided for lessons? I would like to use a harp that fits my body size for lessons.

We offer 22(26) to 40-string Irish harps (Lever Harp) and 47-string Pedal Harp for students to use in class, catering to the different needs of children of varying heights and even adults. Instructors will use the appropriate harp for each student based on their individual needs.

  • I don't have a harp at home. How can I practice?

We offer harp practice rooms for students to rent. New students can choose between harp sheet music or a 5-hour harp practice card (divided into 10 small squares, with one square stamped for every half hour of practice each year). We also have a rent-to-own program, where students can rent a harp to practice at home or purchase a brand new harp at a discounted price.

Course learning content

  • Are the four-session adult intensive course and children's and teenagers' enlightenment course different from the regular beginner course?

The four short courses are offered at a discounted price compared to the beginner's course. They are provided to new students to try out the instrument and see if it suits their learning style and whether they can get along with the instructor. In fact, the instructor will also tailor the teaching content according to the student's background. If the student has no instrumental experience at all, the instructor will start teaching from the very basics.

  • What courses can I enroll in after completing four short courses?

You can enroll in regular classes of 30/45/60 minutes, choosing to continue learning classical music with that goal in mind, or choose to learn your favorite songs, pop songs, or anime songs. Because our classes are taught individually or in pairs, the instructors will tailor the teaching content to each student's abilities and requirements.

  • Can I learn even if I have absolutely no prior experience with other musical instruments?

Yes, even if a student has absolutely no musical background, the instructor will start teaching from the very basics, so students of any age and musical background can handle it.
