Student Guidelines and Rules
I) Pay tuition fees
- Tuition fees are calculated on a monthly basis. Students must pay the tuition fee for the following month on the last day of each month.
- Students can pay tuition fees in any of the following ways: cash, FPS, Alipay, Octopus card, WeChat Pay, PayMe, or cheque.
- If paying by cheque, please make it payable to "Yan Le Xuan" or "Scherzando Music Studio".
- The center reserves the right to terminate the original class schedule for students who fail to pay tuition fees on time. All adjustments and changes will be made without prior notice.
II) Leave of Absence
- All classes are non-deferred, including regular classes, basic classes, and parent-child classes.
- Basic instrument classes and parent-child classes must be completed within 8 weeks; otherwise, they will be invalid.
- Skip – Students may skip one class per quarter (January-March/April-June/July-September/October-December) without paying the tuition fee. Reasons may include student or instructor leave, class rescheduling due to public holidays, black rainstorms, or Typhoon Signal No. 8. If any of these reasons occur more than once in a quarter, tuition fees will still apply for the remaining classes, and make-up classes will be arranged.
- Personal Leave – If a student needs to apply for personal leave after paying tuition due to personal reasons (such as family matters, extracurricular activities, etc.), they must submit an application via Whatsapp 51115508 at least one night before the scheduled class time and discuss the make-up class date and time with the center.
- Sick Leave – If a student needs to be absent from class due to illness, they must submit an application by phone or Whatsapp message at least 2 hours before class. Students must present a doctor's certificate for sick leave applications to be accepted. Students must discuss make-up class dates and times with their instructors.
- Students may apply for a maximum of one personal leave and one sick leave per month (changing class times is counted as personal leave).
- All personal and sick leave must be made up within three months; otherwise, it will be invalid.
- Basic instrument classes must be completed within two months.
- Students attending inter-class courses will not receive make-up classes for absences.
- Full-month leave – If you need to take a full month off for important reasons, please pay the tuition for the following month as a reservation fee. For example, if you need to travel throughout October, you must pay the tuition for November to reserve your place; otherwise, the center reserves the right not to reserve the originally scheduled time for you.
- If the instructor and student agree to resume classes at a future date, such as the instructor going out of town for further studies and agreeing to resume classes on a certain date next month, the student must prepay the tuition to allow the center to reserve rooms and instructor time for the student.
- Failure to follow the above rules will be considered an absence, and no make-up classes will be provided.
III) Responsibilities of Mentors and Students
- Instrumental Instructor – Using their musical expertise, they impart musical knowledge to students, monitor their progress, maintain good communication with students (and parents), and understand and resolve difficulties students encounter during learning and practice.
- Instrumental Student – Respect your teacher, listen patiently to their instructions and advice, maintain appropriate practice at home, and discuss your abilities and progress with your teacher. Try to maintain regular classes, such as once a week. Frequent absences will slow down learning progress and diminish enthusiasm.
IV) Withdrawal from school
- If a student applies to withdraw from the program during their studies, they should take responsibility to notify the center or their tutor at least one month in advance so that both parties can make appropriate arrangements.
V) Practice Instructions
- Harp and piano students at this center can book practice time on a "first-come, first-served" basis;
- Detailed information on using the practice rooms can be found in the "Practice Room Usage Rules" in each practice room;
